Historic Properties
This downtown neighbourhood evokes Halifax’s early European history, with a network of interconnected heritage buildings. Year-round, the Historic Properties draw …
So, the good folks at Downtown Halifax Business Commission have included me in their second annual Big Day Downtown. This means I have my very own credit card to put to good use and spend one hundred dollars downtown and write all about it. Well, my mind’s been racing ever since the launch last week at The Middle Spoon Desserterie & Bar where bloggers were plied with ice cream sandwiches, delectable cheesecake and Pinot Grigio. I know, it’s a rough life, right?
Bloggers Ben Boudreau (No Ordinary Rollercoaster) and Renee Lavallee (Feisty Chef) presented their video examples and I silently grimaced as a couple of my initial ideas were already snatched up (think tattoos, Korean food and I Heart Bike adventures). The mission from Downtown Halifax Business Commission is to try something new and this is really inspiring me to branch out from my normal routines. I already have a tattoo, lived in Korea and ate kimchi every day and let’s face it – I ride my trusty bicycle every chance I get. So, perhaps those ideas weren’t entirely “new” for me anyway…
Essentially, I would like to reach out to you, dear readers, for your feedback and suggestions on any unique shopping, dining and/or fun downtown activities you can think of. Those who know me well know that I sometimes have a teeny, tiny problem making decisions. Especially when there are so many choices out there lying in wait! I’ve written about many shopping destinations already through my blog and I’d really like to try something that is fresh to me (in other words, trying a new drink at the Shoe Shop patio or buying a cute dress from Biscuit just won’t cut it). So, please leave me a comment below with any of your suggestions, keeping in mind that the included area stretches from Brunswick Street right down to Lower Water.
I’ve got a few ideas brewing but I’d love to hear your thoughts!
