Alright gang. It’s mid-winter on the east coast and while we haven’t been punched in the face by the season too many times just yet, we’ve got plenty dragging us down into the February funk. Our solution? Eggs Benedict. Scientifically proven to cure all (don’t quote us on that), we’ve got a line-up of bennies for neighbourhoods all across the city. Walk, run, crawl, or drive your way to the closest one and you’ll be forgetting your sorrows in no time!

While “you’ll have to go on the weekend,” the Eggs Benedict at Emma’s Eatery is well worth it according to Kayla W. “The meat is free-range,” with options like back bacon and the more traditional ham on the menu, “and the Hollandaise is made from scratch.” Slightly more central for Dartmouthians, Melanie M “was gobsmacked” by the “delightful” eggs benny at the Mic Mac Bar & Grill. “Served with a mountain of spiced home fries,” it’s giving their steak and eggs breakfast a run for its money!

Taking care of her cravings by the rotary, Kim H struck gold with The Armview’s selection of six specialty bennies. Not distracted by promises of avocado and house-made salsa, Kim kept it classic with a place “smothered in delish Hollandaise sauce.”  Too far? If you can crawl to Quinpool, you can get your fix at The Ardmore for those days that you just “want things to be simple.” Rob O applauds their “no fancy schmancy combos of flavors” policy especially since they make up for it in quantity. You’ll have more Benny than you’ll know what to do with as you enjoy the “refreshing unhipness” of this diner.

Taking the complete opposite approach, Bistro Le Coq scores some serious bonus points with a truffle oil infused Hollandaise. Besides, who can argue with a stylish, European brunch? Leslie F says it best: “Mon dieu, they did a great job decorating this place! It genuinely feels like a bistro you might find in Paris. Great ambience.” Uptown, Fid Resto slings a breakfast that Jevon M calls nothing short of “stunning.” He fell off the eggs benny train thanks to a “homemade sausage, perfectly smoked bacon and an omelette that was done just right,” but trust when we say that their Benedictine brunch is gourmet quality with a small town diner price tag.
