With over 25 years of experience, the Clean Foundation (you may know us as Clean Nova Scotia) has seen first-hand how we can protect the environment and create the green jobs that keep future generations believing that this future is indeed possible here.

For example, Clean has helped reduce energy use in Nova Scotia by over 160 gigawatt hours to date. To help put that number in perspective, it’s equivalent to removing the annual energy consumption of over 14,500 homes from Nova Scotia’s electricity grid. Or put another way, it’s more than 110,000 tons of greenhouse gases not released into our atmosphere.

Energy efficiency saves money and reduces our carbon footprint. It also supports local businesses doing this work, a green industry that will continue to grow. Clean’s mandate is “to inspire environmental change.”

We restore streams and fish habitats, promote cycling, plant trees, make homes more energy efficient, offer driving tips that save money and improve air quality, and help clean up litter. We work in vital environmental areas like energy, water, transportation and waste. While we work directly on green solutions, we know that education on environmental issues is critical to long-term change.

And Clean knows that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. We help youth explore crucial environmental issues, and encourage them to take action to build a better future through their day-to-day choices.
