Recently, we asked the dads of the Halifax Twitter community which local stores they’d prefer their loved ones to shop for their Father’s Day gifts. The results of our casual and completely unscientific Twitter study? Dads want food, beer, books and t-shirts.
“The gifts that I remember are the ones that are the most personal,” says Gordon Stevens, owner of the Uncommon Group of companies, speaking as a father. “It’s never about the cost, it’s more about how much thought and consideration went into it.”
And the best place to get a personalized recommendation? A local independent store. “At a local store, it’s not ‘well, head office told us to promote this thing today, so we’d better tell everyone who walks in about it,’ says Stevens. “At a local store, they might even know the person you’re getting the gift for.”
So, in no particular order, here are our top 10 local gifts for Father’s Day.
