We continue to serve our readers in new ways to reflect these extraordinary times.
Never has Nova Scotia seen a situation evolve so quickly that affects our safety, health, education system, and economy. In the face of dramatically reduced advertising revenues, our team has been working hard to come up with a plan to continue serving readers and our community. COVID-19 has forced many of our community businesses to rethink how they operate, and we are among them.
We have temporarily suspended the print edition of Halifax Magazine due to business impacts from COVID-19. We will continue to serve, inform, and encourage readers through halifaxmag.com. All of the content you are used to enjoying will be on our website; you’ll continue to find original stories and web exclusives, plus our free archives. As always, we’ll be active on social media, with lots for you to share and discuss.
Nova Scotians take care of each other. There will be an abundance of ways that we will be able to show our compassion. When you make decisions about where you are sourcing the necessities of life or a special pick-me-up for the ones you love, put local providers atop your list. Locally owned small businesses employ your friends and neighbours.
Support for local media is also important. These businesses often fly under the radar but their absence from our daily lives would be significant. While we will all be spending more time at home in the coming weeks, consider purchasing a subscription and supporting the businesses whose ads sustain local media.
We will continue to monitor the pandemic and the response of our community, as we plan Halifax Magazine’s return to print. In the meantime, stay with us online as we continue to celebrate our city.
It may take some time, but Halifax will soon be back on its feet.
